IWC clarifies incorrect information on COVID-19 vaccination rollout

Information has been provided to the media relating to the COVID-19 vaccination rollout in Bundaberg region. The information about IWC and our Medical Centre operations is incorrect and has not been provided to the Primary Health Network (PHN) or Government by IWC.

The following information is correct:

– As the Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS) for Bundaberg region IWC will be providing COVID-19 vaccinations to First Nation peoples in our region

– IWC will provide these vaccinations in clinics that will commence Monday 19 April 2021

Comment by IWC General Manager Wayne Mulvany:

“General Practice is the cornerstone of Primary Health Care, but there has been insufficient communication and consultation with this key group in our community, and there is consequently a lack of clarity around the operational detail of the COVID-19 rollout.”
