IWC kicks off 2023 with repairs to the North Burnett Health and Wellbeing Centre
In September 2021, IWC proudly opened our North Burnett Health and Wellbeing Centre in Gayndah, QLD. The opening of this centre brought health services to the community of Gayndah and its surrounds, in state-of-the-art facilities, along with a Gym and a revitalised space of the existing YMCA stadium. In an unfortunate twist of fate, a burst pipe over a long weekend led to the facility closing after only one week in operation—a huge disappointment to IWC as an organisation and the North Burnett Community.
In the interim, IWC acquired the Gayndah Family Medical practice to ensure the people of Gayndah had continued access to health care services. After an extended period of negotiations, repairs are set to begin in January 2023. IWC fought long and hard to ensure the standards our customers have grown to expect would be met through this project.
The re-opening of our Fielding Street location will allow IWC to continue delivering health and wellbeing services, including increasing our general practice’s capacity to see patients, from our General Practitioners, Indigenous Health Workers, and Practitioners. This will also facilitate increased capacity for visiting allied health services, including but not limited to Accredited Practising Dietitians, Credentialed Diabetes Educators, Physiotherapists and more.
The repair work is anticipated to be completed in approximately 6 months, with the centre's re-opening slated for mid-2023. More details of the centre’s re-opening will be confirmed closer to the time.
