Order Take Out with Us!
What are our Dietitians Ordering on a Friday Night?
It's the end of the week; we've all been cooking every night, trying to make healthy decisions and going through the motions of a busy work week. But, not it's Friday night and cooking a healthy meal is the farthest thing from something you feel like doing! Vegging out on the couch with a guilty pleasure TV show and your favourite take-out sounds so appealing. Yes, even as dietitians, we like the occasional Friday Night Take Out Night.
So here's what we are ordering.
Guzman y Gomez or Subway!
GyG is fast, easy and healthy! There is a very of options that make it easier to make a healthier decision, such as a salad with grilled chicken and brown rice (I normal
Sushi!
I cannot go past a great sushi place! Sushi has some great options and lots of variety. It is a great option if you are looking for a quick snack or lunch. It's a good choice if you are also looking to incorporate a meat-free meal. I love choosing either vegetarian sushi with heaps of vegetables or tofu. I also love the seafood range! Like a raw salmon or cooked tuna option. And is there anything more delicious than Kewpie Mayo?
All of the Above!
Jess and Chloe took all my favourite choices! I do make some different choices with each of these options, though.
For instance, I love adding edamame and miso soup to my order if I get sushi. Edamame, or soybeans, are a great veggie snack high in fibre, and miso soup is a good lower-calorie meal addition. I also opt for the fresh sushi roll over the tempura (deep-fried in vegetable oil). I also go easy on the soy sauce, I don't need that much salt in my life, but the ginger gives me that flavour hit I'm looking for!
When I visit GyG, I cannot go past the Grilled Barramundi salad bowl with guacamole and lots of fresh coriander (Yes, I fall on the side of LOVING coriander!).
Finally, my go-to Sub is a 6-inch Grilled Chicken on Rye Bread (or a multigrain wrap) loaded with salad and a touch of Chipotle sauce for a hit of spice.
You don't have to feel bad or guilty for getting take-out once in a while
There are plenty of options out there that can fit within your health and wellbeing goals.
